Chip Into America

Currently playing festivals and packed out headline shows across the States, it’s fair to say Hot Chip have blown a fair few minds. The Guardian’s Tim Jonze tweeted that last weekend’s set at Coachella was the best of the weekend and added in a review online “Hot Chip have been steadily building themselves a reputation as one of Britain’s best pop bands and the same can be said for their live show, a set almost scientficially engineered to thrill a giddy festival crowd”. Meanwhile, across the other side of the country, the Village Voice reviewed the band’s earlier sold out New York Roseland Ballroom gig as “an unstoppable, endlessly gratifying 80 to 90 minute party.”

The band’s U.S. dates continue this week with a show in Las Vegas on Thursday (with support from Four Tet) and a second Coachella set on Saturday evening (4/20). After that, the band begin an all out assault on the summer festival circuit, playing shows in Spain, Russia, Switzerland, Canada, France, the US and the UK. As always, all dates can be found in the live section of this site.

Additional US Dates & Supports Announced

Hot Chip have announced a further US date this spring as well as support acts for all confirmed gigs. The band will play in Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan on 18th April (the show sits between the two previously announced Coachella weekends) along with old school mate Kieran Hebden on DJ duties.

25th March New Orleans House of Blues: Howling Hex
9th April, New York Roseland Ballroom: Tanlines plus the Crystal Ark (DJ set)
10th April, Washington DC 9.30 Club: the Crystal Ark
18th April, Las Vegas The Cosmopolitan – Four Tet (DJ set)

P.S. Found this very rough, blurry clip of the band covering Sloop John B. by the Beach Boys on the recent Coachella cruise ship. Now even more annoyed about missing it.

Hot Chip have been confirmed for Coachella Festival 2013. Following on from their gigs on the SS Coachella in December, the band will play on Saturday 13th & 20th of April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on the same day as (amongst many, many others) New Order, Pheonix, Franz Ferdinand and Grizzly Bear. For full line up, scroll down to the flier below.

PREVIOUS POST Hot Chip have announced a pair of US gigs in the spring. They will play:

25/3/13 New Orleans House Of Blues (tickets on-sale Friday 18th January at 10:00 AM EST)

10/4/13 Washington, D.C. 9:30 Club (tickets on-sale Thursday 17th January at 10:00 AM EST)

Supports TBC for both shows. These shows are in addition to previously announced festival shows in Miami, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires and Sanitago and headline gigs in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo and New York City.

Later this year, Hot Chip will be playing aboard an opulent cruise ship that’s been taken over by the good folks at Coachella Festival. The band will play on two cruises on the SS Coachella that will take place on December 16-19 in the Bahamas and December 19-23 in Jamaica. Also on board will be Pulp, Yeasayer, James Murphy, !!!, DJ Harvey, Grimes, Warpaint, Sleigh Bells and a whole bunch more. For more information and prices on cruise packages, check the SS Coachella site here.
