Felix Martin and Al Doyle’s other band – New Build – have a new single out now called “False Thing” and Felix has directed their first ever video!

Following on from the storming Hot Chip performances at Coachella, Felix and Al are bringing their “other” 7 piece band to the West Coast of the USA for the first time, and with it their unique blend of electronics, funk and raw energy.

In support is the excellent UK band NO CEREMONY///, making this something of a mini British invasion.

New Build Album Details

The first New Build album “Yesterday Was Lived And Lost” is out now in the UK!

You can listen to all 12 tracks from the album on the band’s Youtube page, or at the New Build Bandcamp page.

The digital version is an immediate download in your choice of a variety of high quality formats, including WAV and FLAC. The CD version is a beautiful bespoke digipack, including 2 exclusive art prints, with artwork by Bevis Martin and Charlie Youle, who created the “One Pure Thought” video for Hot Chip, and design by Hot Chip regular Darren Wall. The limited edition heavyweight vinyl version includes exclusive bonus track “Care Too Much”.

It’s also available to order on I-Tunes, with an exclusive track “Your Love”, which has recently been playlisted on BBC Radio 1 & XFM.

To mark the release of the album , the band are now on tour. Following sold out shows in the UK, culminating in an amazing night at Corsica Studios in London, and two sold out shows in New York, Felix and Al will be live on stage in Europe with a full 7 piece band, including Rupert Clervaux (formerly of the Sian Alice Group) on drums, Charlie Michael on percussion, Ben Ubly on bass and Joy Leah Joseph singing and playing steel pan and percussion. These shows are going to be amazing!

UPDATE !! New Build Tour UK, US & Europe

NEW BUILD are a new band featuring Hot Chip members Al Doyle and Felix Martin. Al is also known for his time playing guitar for LCD Soundsystem.

They have put together a 7 piece live band featuring synths, drums, guitars, percussion, lots of singing, and general making of loud noises!

And they are taking it on the road this Spring to mark the release of their first ever album, visiting GLASGOW, LEEDS, MANCHESTER, LONDON, NEW YORK, SXSW, AMSTERDAM, BRUSSELS, PARIS, BERLIN, COLOGNE, COPENHAGEN & STOCKHOLM!

There will be some very cool support acts along the way, including BANG & OLUFSEN, a new duo which comprises ALEXIS TAYLOR and ROB SMOUGHTON (GROVESNOR).

And for the LONDON show there are even more very special guests! The party has now sold out but £5 tickets for the afterparty with all the DJ sets are still available, just arrive after 11pm.

The date is Friday March 9th, the venue is Corsica Studios in London.

New Build will be playing live earlier in the evening, and the show will be followed  by a club night until 4am.

Now featuring the supreme DJ-ing talents of Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell (The 2 Bears), Dominik Eulberg and Hannah Holland!

The party is part of the first New Build tour in the UK, Europe and the US. It is to mark the release of the first New Build album “Yesterday Was Lived And Lost”.

New Build – debut album and gig details

New Build, a new band featuring Hot Chip members Al Doyle and Felix Martin, are pleased to announce the imminent release of their first album Yesterday Was Lived And Lost.

The 12 track album will be released on digital, CD and heavyweight vinyl format on March 5th 2012. Yesterday Was Lived And Lost will be the third release on New Build’s own fledgling imprint Lanark Recordings.

The CD comes with two beautiful postcard sized prints by the artists Bevis Martin and Charlie Youle, who created the artwork for the release. The vinyl version features an exclusive bonus track and a link to download high quality digital files.
